Infant classes are for children from age 3 months to 3 years old. Classes are 30 minutes long and limited to 12 students. Each child must have a caregiver in the pool with them at all times. Classes are held at varying times throughout the week and divided into four skill levels;
- Advanced Babies
Children are grouped within these levels based on their age and ability.
Teaching through play and repetition is an important part of our curriculum. Our classes use songs and games to teach important aquatic and safety skills in a fun environment.
While we believe that no program can “drown-proof” an infant, the safety skills they learn in class may provide them with the critical extra seconds it takes to get help in an emergency.
Our program is taught from the child’s perspective. We believe all children, even babies, need to be treated with dignity and respect.
Suggestions for Success
When choosing a class time, try not to upset your baby’s regular nap schedule.
For the welfare of all participants, children under three years old must wear leakproof swim nappies such as Huggies Little Swimmers. Cloth or disposable nappies swell up in water which can drag a baby down and allow unhealthy contents to be released into the pool.
Other things to bring;
- Fitted swimsuit
- Warm clothes to change into after the lesson
Choose a caregiver who is comfortable in the water. If you feel secure and relaxed, chances are your baby will too!
